I created Meeting Strategist for senior professionals who are ready to think more strategically about business conversations and want to improve their listening, questioning and meeting skills. The platform consists of a blog, podcast and newsletter:

  • On the blog, I share my evolving insights into questioning and listening skills, conversation strategies and the psychology that underpins our daily conversations.

  • As of February 2019, I’m sharing my unpolished ideas via MS Journal. Here I will regularly publish a short blog about business conversations and workplace psychology to offer tools, spark discussion and inspire.

  • In the monthly podcast, I'll take you behind the scenes of impactful meetings by interviewing investors, executives, creatives and others about the strategies, tactics and mindsets they rely on to make business conversations more productive and meaningful.

  • The newsletter is a monthly wrap-up of newly published blog posts, interesting articles that I've found online, recent ideas, insights and book tips. (Starting soon.)

High tech without high touch does not work, and the more influential technology becomes, the more important the human factor which controls that technology becomes.”

Short Bio

My name is Marcel van de Hoef. I've more than 20 years of experience in the media and communication sector. As a journalist I worked for The Associated Press (AP) and Bloomberg and as editor-in-chief I played a key role in the creation of Dutch news agency and multimedia production house Novum Nieuws, which was later acquired by its largest competitor.

Since early 2010, I've been active as a financial and strategic communication advisor and copywriter (American-English and Dutch). In addition, I work as a certified trainer, helping investors and other senior professionals ask better questions and improve their listening skills.

I live in Hilversum, just outside Amsterdam, together with my wife Marlies and my two children Lente and Jimi.
